Meet the artist

'It is my passion to capture moments of beauty and stillness. I love to create and bring a moment of joy.'

Educated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, Flokje worked for many years as a portrait photographer. Over time, her focus shifted to expressing something more exceptionally. Inspired by the 17th century, she developed a new rhythm in creating and shaping each photograph into a remarkable piece of art.

After having completed her first self-initiated series, it got selected immediately for the Photo Festival Brooklyn in New York and the Photo Festival Naarden in the Netherlands. Soon she worked with leading art galleries exposing her works at national and international art fairs like Art Miami, Scope Basel and PAN Amsterdam. Flokje's strength lies in creating exceptional artworks that have both a photographic, yet a painterly look. She paints with light until balance and serenity come together.

'I love to connect while I'm photographing. When we work together, a kind of conversation begins. You give me something and I respond, a visual and personal language starts to unfold. There is always a special moment when something shifts. That's when I capture something real,
a glimpse of the soul.'

Creating a personal artwork is an intimate and meaningful experience. It begins with a complimentary introduction, where possibilities are explored and ideas take shape. The photoshoot itself is guided with care and ease, with thoughtful attention to styling, light and atmosphere.

From there an artistic journey begins. The artwork is developed with utmost precision and patience, layer by layer, until something timeless begins to emerge, a personal artwork that captures a glimpse of the quiet presence.
